The media have kept our view of the war very clean. You don't see wounded soldiers on TV. You don't see the coffins of soldiers shipped home from Iraq. You don't see Iraqi civilians dead and wounded. You don't see the people being tourtured in US-run prisons. You don't see what being in a war can turn people into. As long as we don't see it, we can pretend it's not really happening. But it is.
